Queens and Bees - Overview
There are two main types of Bees in the Honeyverse: Queen Bees and male Bees.
Bees can be earned through game play and by purchasing them from other players via the in-game Marketplace.
Queen Bee
On Earth (Universe 1) - You will have one active Queen. She leads your missions and can provide significant stat boosts especially when your Bees' mood matches her mood. See further details below and review this article for tips on choosing an active Queen.
On Cocarro (Universe 2) - If you choose to Siege and Explore you will need multiple Queens. Details below.
Queen Bees are necessary for Breeding. If you plan to Breed your Queen, her level is very important as the level of a Queen tells you how many upgrade slots she will pass to her offspring. Queens start at level 10 and can be upgraded to level 20. It's very common for players to upgrade their Queen to level 20 before starting to Breed her.
Male Bee
Each player will have a colony of male Bees that go out on Harvesting missions to bring back Honey and Hunting missions to bring back Honeypots (filled with shards) which allow you to progress in the game. They can also participate in Player vs. Player (PvP), Quests, and other activities in Honeyland. Grow and upgrade your colony of Bees over time to complete more missions and earn more game rewards.
Generations
There are five different generations of Queens and male Bees:
- Genesis - The rarest Queens and Bees, they cannot be created through game play - they can be Hatched from existing Eggs or purchased from other players (see further details below)
- Gen 1 - Can be created by Breeding using a Genesis male Bee or by Hatching existing Gen 1 Eggs
- Gen 2 - Can be created by Breeding using a Gen 1 male Bee or by Hatching existing Gen 2 Eggs
- Gen 3 - Can be created by Breeding using a Gen 2 or 3 male Bee or by Hatching existing or created Gen 3 Eggs
- Training - provided to new players when they open their Honeyland account, additional Training Bees can be Hatched or Bred - Training Bees have a life span and other features that are different from Working Bees. Read the Training Bee player guide for full details.
Note: Queens, Bees, and Eggs are frequently included as prizes in the in-game raffles
Generation Identification
The Generation, Landform Specialty, and number of times a Bee has been upgraded can easily be determined by the Bee's badge (as shown below).
- The shape of the badge indicates the Bee's generation
- The number is how many times the Bee has been upgraded
- The color of the badge indicates the Landform Specialty
Home Universe Identification
You can easily determine the home universe of a Queen or Bee by the background color.
- Earth Queens and Bees have a blue background
- Cocarro Queens and Bees have a pink background
Queen Bees
Earth Queens
Based on her Generation and Level, your Active Queen (she can be seen in your Hive) provides mission boosts and cooldown reductions for Bees on Earth missions. See the Mission Boosts on Earth Player Guide for details.
She also provides cooldown reduction for your Queens who are leading missions on Cocarro.
Gen 1 Earth Queens can lead Explore missions on Cocarro with a 50% stat reduction.
Cocarro Queens
You will need a separate Queen for each Siege and/or Explore mission on Cocarro.
- Siege missions require a Cocarro Queen
- Eligible Earth Queens will show up on the Explore mission Queen selection window
Genesis Queens
Genesis Queens are the rarest Bee in Honeyland. There are only 650 total (including Hatched Queens and unhatched Eggs)
- Provide a 25% cool down reduction
- Provide up to 50% mission boosts
- Have unlimited Breeding
- Can be active in all Universes - other Queens have limits
- Have higher base points on Explore missions
- They can be leveled up to Level 20 by applying Queen upgrade items via the Bee Lab
- Genesis Queens hatched on Cocarro will be one of the 5 new Queen designs
Ancient Queens
- Can go on any Explore mission - access is not based on her Health stat
- Have higher base points on Explore missions
- Offer a boost on Siege missions
- If Ancient Queen has None Landform or the same Landform as the Land, she will provide a Landform boost for all Bees on Siege missions
- Have an advantage when Breeding - she passes 30% more base stats to her offspring compared to a normal Queen
Queen Features by Generation
Queen Generation | Cool Down Reduction* | Number of Breeds | Mood Match Boost Range** |
Genesis | 25% | Unlimited | 25-50% |
Gen 1 | 15% | 18 times | 20-40% |
Gen 2 | 8% | 12 times | 15-30% |
Gen 3 | 0% | 6 times | 10-20% |
Training | 0% | Unlimited | 5-10% |
*Cooldown reduction is a flat % reduction (based on the generation of the Queen) to the number of recovery minutes and is based on the Bee's own recovery stat - the Queen's level isn't a factor
Cooldown reduction example: A Bee with 191 recovery stat = 120 minutes of recovery time
A Genesis Queen reduces that by 30 minutes (25% of 120) to a recovery time of 90 minutes. Shorter recovery time means that Bee can be sent on another mission sooner.
**Range of stat boost your Bee will receive when its mood matches your Queen's mood
Exact boost is determined by the generation and level of your active Queen
Male Bees
Each player will have a colony of male Bees that can be sent on Earth Harvesting missions to bring back Honey and Earth Hunting missions to bring back Honeypots (filled with shards) which allow you to progress in the game. They can also participate in Player vs. Player (PvP), Quests, and other activities on Earth. On Cocarro, they can go on Explore and Siege missions.
Genesis Bees
- There are only 6,500 male Genesis - some have been hatched, some are still unhatched Eggs
- They can reach any zone regardless of their Endurance stat
- All male Genesis Bees can be active on Cocarro with no stat reductions
- They have the highest floor stats (200) when Hatched on Cocarro
- They contribute more points toward the Siege extraction score
- They can go on any Explore mission and provide the highest base points
- The only way for a breed to result in a Gen 1 Bee is by using a Genesis Male Bee during the breeding
- When Breeding, the universe of the offspring will have a 90% chance of matching the male Bee’s universe and a 10% chance of matching the Queen’s universe
- When Breeding a Gen 1 Bee (using a Genesis male Bee) you have a 5% chance of receiving the monthly Chase Bee
- There are 14 unique Bees - any male Genesis Egg that is hatched could be one of the remaining, unhatched 1-of-1 Bees!
- Genesis eggs can be hatched in any universe and will take on the full characteristics of that universe
NOTE: Genesis holders receive IRL benefits:
- Schedule a one-on-one call with Honeyland’s CEO
- Contests and other opportunities open only to Genesis holders

Ancient Bees
In January 2025, we held an Ancient Bee fusion event. Players could fuse other assets into Essence and then use that Essence along with WAX and HXD to mint new Gen 1 male Bees.
Number of Genesis Queens and Bees
There are 1,000 Genesis Queens and 10,000 Genesis Bees in the overall collection.
We released 500 Genesis Queen Eggs and 5000 male Genesis Bee Eggs during our first mint.
Our June 2024 mint included 150 Queen Genesis Bee Eggs and 1350 male Genesis Bee Eggs.
That leaves 350 Genesis Queen Eggs and 3650 male Genesis Bee Eggs that COULD be released in the future. There's no guarantee they will ever be minted.
Chase Bees
Creating New Chase Bees
The Chase Bee changes each month. Chase Bees are only male; there are no Chase Queens.
- When Breeding a Gen 1 Bee (using a Genesis male Bee) you have a 5% chance of receiving a Chase Bee
- When Breeding a Gen 2 Bee (using a Gen 1 male Bee) you have a 1% chance
- When Hatching a Genesis Bee you have a 5% chance
- When Hatching an existing Gen 1 Bee Egg you have a 1% chance
- When Hatching an existing Gen 2 Bee Egg you have a 0.5% chance
- NOTE: This is a cosmetic difference, not a stat difference
Chase Bees change at 00:00 UTC on the first of each month.
Chase Bee Details
- Chase bees can travel to any zone on Earth or Cocarro
- They have no stat reduction in either universe
- Cosmetics cannot be applied to Chase bees
Chase Bee Eggs
Players who are Honey Bags tier 3 and above are automatically entered into Monthly raffles. The prizes for those raffles include three Chase Bee Eggs.
Chase Bee Eggs can be Hatched right away or held to Hatch in a different month. You will receive the Chase Bee that is active during the month you choose to Hatch the Egg. Chase Bee Eggs are also tradeable.
Using Cocarro Bees for missions on Earth
Cocarro (Universe 2) Bees can be used on Earth (Universe 1) missions. However, Cocarro Bees (other than Cocarro Genesis Bees) will have a 50% reduction in their stats on all Earth missions.
They will receive Mood Match boosts from the active Queen if they match her mood.
Examples:
- They will need a very high Endurance stat to be able to reach farther zones (540 for Zone 8, 460 for Zone 7)
- Their stats during Harvesting (Agility and Capacity) and Hunting (Luck) will be halved
Mad Honey Vial Experiment #2 Bees
Mad Honey Experiment #2 allowed you to burn a MHV to change the art of your Bee to a special Bee. The new Bee was designed by one of 8 artists that partnered with Honeyland! Experiment #2 was open from August 19 to August 26, 2023.
REMINDER: MHV2 Bees can travel in both universes with no stat penalty, once there they can travel to any zone
